Hello from Uganda!

After leaving from Nashville this past Monday - and after 27 hours of traveling through busy airports and roads full of pot holes - we're here :)

Yes, 27 hours...

The team we'll be working with at Ekisa Ministries has been so kind in welcoming us and helping us to get settled in. It's hard to overstate how lost we would be without all of their help. But through their graciousness, we haven't had to worry about a thing.

Like finding a car (which was one of the things many of you were praying for). The day after we arrived, one of our teammates took us around town and showed us 3 used cars that he had already spent hours searching for. Rather than us having to blindly navigate the car market, try to understand what to look for / avoid in a used car here, and figure out a fair price, he had already done all of that. All we had to do was ride around with him to look at the 3 cars and pick one. It only took us 2 hours. And after waiting a few days for it to get registered, we finally got it today.

Then, when we arrived to our apartment, the fridge was already stocked, sheets were on our beds, welcome signs were on every wall, and some of the kids had piled together some toys for Burrus to borrow.

Christian community is a very special thing.

We were able to visit Ekisa yesterday (where we'll be working). Lizzy hadn't been back in 4 years, and I can't tell you how much everyone's faces lit up when she walked in. Her's too! It was so sweet to spend a few hours with the staff and kids - and made us so excited to join the team. Lord willing, we'll be able to start on Monday.

In the morning, we'll be joining some of the kids for worship at a local church. We'll deeply miss worshipping alongside many of you, but what a wonderful thing to know that even half-way across the world, we have family here too. And we're excited to get to know them.

We love you!
